My YouTube channel

So in the last few months, I've started a YouTube channel.  Haven't really done anything photography wise.  Just uploaded a few videos showing off some fireworks and a few shorts where I get the majority of my views.  You can view the channel here.

I want to get my Google AdSense back so I'm hoping more and more people visit my blog and subscribe to the blog and the YouTube channel.

July 2, 2019

I spent this morning at Parc Omega.  I left the park at about 1:15pm.  It was so hot out today.  About 27 degrees Celsius.  I paid $35 to get into the park.  I remember paying $26 a day to get into the park just a few years ago.  It was a lot cheaper and a lot better back then.  They’ve increased the prices and pretty much made the park unphotographable with fences everywhere.  The other people coming into the park drive like they never took a driving lesson.  The park is located on the Quebec side so that’s one reason why it’s harder and harder for me to go there.  Summer is really not a good time to go to the park because it’s so damn hot out.

I have basically decided that for the remainder of this year I want to pay off my credit card debt so I can do some travel next year.  I want to actually move out west in April of next year.  I am so sick of Ottawa and Ontario.  There is nothing to do here and it’s so damn expensive to do anything.  I have also decided not to sell my Sony a7ii and my Canon Vixia HF G40.  Next year I want to upgrade my drone to something better than the DJI Spark.  It’s an ok drone but it only shoots at 1080p/30fps and photos are only shot in JPEG.  So no Raw photos and no 1080p/60fps or 4K on the drone just because the sensor on the drone is so small.  I think the drone I want is about $2030 before tax.

I have everything I want as far as vehicle goes.  I have the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport AWD which I can sleep in and have enough room for all my equipment.  I am saving some money as well.  I’m putting $50 a paycheque into my TFSA.  All my photography money is staying in my Paypal account.  With the new job I’m starting tomorrow, I’ll be making some good coinage to pay off my debt.  We just have to stop going out to restaurants every second day.  I want to also start eating healthy.  I want to lose at least 50 pounds by April 2020.  I also want to restart reading my Affinity Photo book and learn Affinity Photo.  For my Apple iPad Pro to say the least.

Niagara Falls in black and white

Niagara Falls in black and white

One of the many shots from the previous weekend.  Saturday was really nice.  Sunday turned out to be really windy with 125KM wind speeds.  A tour of a chocolate factory was in order instead.  Shot this with a Sony RX100 Mark VI.  And just used Apple Photos to do some light editing.  Not that much.  I hope you enjoy.

Niagara Falls - Canadian side

Yes, the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is much nicer looking then the U.S. side.  The girlfriend booked a hotel in 3 weeks so we're going to Niagara Falls in the winter.  It's hopefully going to be warm but I doubt it with this polar vortex hanging around eastern Canada.  But it's only going to be the weekend and we'll be in the hotel for the most part.  It'll be nice to take pictures of the frozen falls and something that's not photographed much by anyone else as it's too cold.

That's why I love the Sony RX100 Mark VI.  It's such a small and versatile camera which shoots fantastic footage and photographs.  It's actually a better camera when the person using it knows how to use it and take magnificent footage and photos.  I want to shoot the falls in 4k.

I think in the next week I will be buying the 2018 iPad Pro with the 1TB hard drive and the 6GB of RAM.  My early 2013 MacBook Pro can't handle 4k video files and my 2018 Windows computer doesn't have the software to edit video.  And I really don't want to spend money on the Windows laptop to upgrade the memory and second hard drive from a 5400RPM 1TB HD to a 1TB SSD.  I could also upgrade the RAM from 16GB to 32GB.  But I really don't want to spend another few hundred dollars on the laptop.

But yeah, I'm looking forward to shooting Niagara Falls and spending some time with the girlfriend.

Sandbanks Provincial Park

This is why we go.  It was so nice.  A bit windy and the water was a bit cold compared to the last time we were there.  It was still nice to get out and go.  Spend a day on a nice beach relaxing with friends.  I got to fly my drone again. It was very windy the whole day.   The gimbal had a hard time stabilizing.  After my recent experience with the DJI Spark, I didn't want to do anything in mid flight with it.

Fort Henry, Ontario - Arial view

Just one of the videos I took over Fort Henry when we were in Kingston, ON over the August long weekend.  The drones are a lot of fun to fly but I fear losing it.  I try and keep it in visual site.  I think next year I will upgrade from the DJI Spark to the DJI Mavic Pro just so I can take better video with the drone.  The DJI Spark takes really good videos but I want something better.
