Fall is here

I went to Mud Lake today to do some photography.  Also needed the walk.  This was the only usable photography I got today.  I was just thinking about setting goals and finishing goals.  I don't want my life to be meaningless.  Just like a leaf in the wind.  Just set one goal at a time and complete it.  Don't worry about the money.  Money will come if you enjoy what you're doing.  75% of people hate what they do for a living.  I am one of the 75%.  Photography is what I love to do.  I saw a very inspiring video today by a former California governor.  I think he's a RINO but this is not about politics.  It's about setting goals and finishing your goals.  It's a short video.  Worth your time.

Damn, it’s hot out

You could cook an egg on the hood of my car.  When I drove home from my first day of work at EDC, it was 32 degrees Celsius in the sun before the humidity.  Got home and turned on the air conditioning and brought it down to 18 degrees Celsius.  It’s so hot photography is not worth doing.  Just walking downtown would melt me.  If it’s 32 degrees Celsius in the burbs, it’s probably hotter downtown with all the buildings and the pavement.

On a side not, I downloaded all the videos off my Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder.  I wonder why I ever got rid of it a few years back before I bought the Canon Vixia HF G40.  The R800 is a great little camcorder.  Fits right into your hand and right into your pocket when not in use.  Just an awesome little camcorder.  And it lasts forever too.

40+ centimetres of snow

This morning we woke up to 40+ centimetres worth of snow on the ground with a few more expected for today.  If I still had my 2015 Hyunday Elantra GLS, I’d still be digging myself out of my subdivision.  But because over a week ago, I purchased a new SUV I was able to get to work on time.  Actually I got here early.  I got the 2018 Hyunday Santa Fe Sport.  What a beast of an SUV.  Plowed through the snow with no problems.  Didn’t slide all over the place.  Just stuck to the road and the snow on it.  It just simple went and didn’t stop through a foot of snow.  It was great.

Since there is literally no one here at work, I think we’ll just go home early.  I want to go get my Sony RX100 Mark VI which I forgot at home this morning and I want to go do some photography with it.  Last night I uploaded 700+ photos to Shutterstock and I have to keyword and describe them right now.  So while I do that, you enjoy the great outdoors..

I need to move

It's going to be Parc Omega time again on Saturday.  Whether I go alone or not is not my choice.  But I need to spend time with the animals.  Especially the wolves.  After the month I've had on Shutterstock, I need to shoot more videos of animals.  I'll take my Canon Vixia HF G40 camcorder with me this time.  I've been using the Sony RX100 Mark VI for video but it doesn't have quite the reach of the Canon Vixia HF G40 as far as digital reach.

With the polar vortex weather we've been having, going outside to do photography is just plain nuts.  I need warmer weather.  Maybe I'll take a day off during the week and just spend the day by myself.  I need a rest.

Was going to go fly but...

...the humidity is way too humid today.  Between the bursts of severe rain when it rains sideways, it's just too muggy to be outside.  It's supposed to be nice and cool for the remainder of the week.  I'll be glad that this humidity is going away.

International Astronomy Day 2016

The event held every year by the OAOG at the Gloucester Shopping Centre has been cancelled due to weather being bad.  Clouds and rain all day.  I was going to go to the event and photograph it but with the weather cancelling the event, I will have to make other plans.

I will now get to catch up on stuff that I couldn't do during the week.  I have to go buy a power cord for my telescope mount and buy a book on Photoshop.  I want to get my Adobe Certified Expert certification in the next couple of months.  Although I use Lightroom for all my photo editing, Adobe has not offered the Lightroom CC certification yet.  So Photoshop CC certification here I come.

Back to Astronomy Day.  If your city has nice weather and an Astronomy event going on today, I highly suggest you go as you will learn a few things about the universe you live in.  Astronomy got me into photography.  Astronomy and photography are two amazing and amazingly expensive hobbies.  But as I always say, at least I don't spend my money and time on foolish things like alcohol and drugs.

Time to go and enjoy the day.
