Time for a change

So, I bought this Jeep Wrangler last weekend.  I am really sick of paying rent to some conglomerate company who doesn’t give a shit about me.  I want to do the nomad life in Ottawa here and I want to go places.  Plus I want to pay off some debt and paying $1,300 a month for rent is just nuts.  Plus you have hydro and internet to pay as well.

I have my 2022 Apple iPad Pro which has cellular capabilities along with my Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max.  I really want to start living the minimal lifestyle.  Just my cameras and my laptop and iPad.  

I’ll have to figure out where to park for the nights and if I’ll have to get hotel rooms for when it’s -40 degrees Celsius.  And of course where am I going to shower.  I’m figuring I’ll find a 24 hour gym with showers.  Actually go to the gym in the mornings before work.  Do a light work out and then shower.  

The next couple of months will be interesting for sure. I’ll be doing a lot more videos and posting them on my YouTube channel as well.

Rainy day photography

I wanted to do some more long exposure photography with the GOBE 10 stop ND filter.  Today was a dark and dreary day.  Perfect weather for some long exposure photography like the picture above.  This small waterfall is located in Britannia Park located in the west of Ottawa.  I had forgotten about this park for about 5 years.  Rediscovered it a few weeks back Nd I wanted to photograph it again.  It’s really a small, beautiful and pleasant park with not too many people around.

I’ve had pretty much nothing to do since I can’t go back to my job because of the Kung Flu virus.  I’ve uploaded both of the above pictures to my own personal website.  Both pictures are available for sale there.  I’ve also uploaded both pictures to my Adobe Portfolio.  They are waiting for moderation. What I like about both shots is how crisp and sharp they both are.  I used ISO 100, f8 and a 30 second exposure.  Both were shot with the Sony a7R Mark II, the Sony f3.5-6.3 24-240MM lens and the GOBE 10 stop ND filter.

Damn, it’s hot out

You could cook an egg on the hood of my car.  When I drove home from my first day of work at EDC, it was 32 degrees Celsius in the sun before the humidity.  Got home and turned on the air conditioning and brought it down to 18 degrees Celsius.  It’s so hot photography is not worth doing.  Just walking downtown would melt me.  If it’s 32 degrees Celsius in the burbs, it’s probably hotter downtown with all the buildings and the pavement. 

On a side not, I downloaded all the videos off my Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder.  I wonder why I ever got rid of it a few years back before I bought the Canon Vixia HF G40.  The R800 is a great little camcorder.  Fits right into your hand and right into your pocket when not in use.  Just an awesome little camcorder.  And it lasts forever too. 

I wish fall was here

This summer has been too damn hot.  I can't wait for the fall cooler days and nights.  The trees changing colors.  The smell of cool winds.  And I'm gonna be going back to Parc Omega practically every weekend to get my animal footage and photography.

Was going to go fly but...

...the humidity is way too humid today.  Between the bursts of severe rain when it rains sideways, it's just too muggy to be outside.  It's supposed to be nice and cool for the remainder of the week.  I'll be glad that this humidity is going away.

Junior Egret at Mud Lake

Today was a fantastic day in Ottawa.  We're having great weather on the weekends.  Sunny and warm.  I on occasion go to Mud lake in Ottawa to do some photography since there is a variation of birds at the lake from Owls to Great Blue Herons and egrets to chickadees, nuthatches and robins.   WIth the shallow waters this year, you can get to places that you couldn't before.  This junior egret has been hanging around for the past several weeks.  I've managed to get some really good photos and video of this amazing bird.  He is not skittish or shy around humans and will completely ignore you.  Which is good for us photographers.  :)
